Thank you for taking a moment to visit our web page. Please allow me to tell you why I became a Barton-certified tutor and why I opened this tutoring center. I am a licensed, professional teacher with a Master’s degree in Counseling. My classroom experience includes teaching social studies and teaching the deaf and hard of hearing.
I am also the parent of a child with dyslexia.
This personal experience is what drew me to attend a presentation by Susan Barton on educating people with dyslexia. Her presentation and information was enlightening, straight-forward and as accessible to parents, as it was to educators and administrators. Not long after the presentation, I attended Susan’s training session to learn the foundations of the Barton method and began to tutor my daughter and a couple of other students referred to me by family members. As word continued to spread, it became apparent that the need to help other parents and students would require more room and tutors.
By opening this tutoring center and contracting with additional education professionals, I hope to increase the number of people who will benefit by learning and using the Barton Reading and Spelling System.
